Visual Style
The overall look of the film will be minimal, with graphic shapes and limited color palettes dictating the appearance of characters, props and environments. This will serve to keep the audience from getting overwhelmed or confused, which is important especially for a short film. In enhancing appeal with the audience, we hope it will also make it easier for visual development and modeling teams.
The family members will have silhouettes distinct from one another while sharing similar shapes in a few features
Locations, especially the airport, will have key and recognizable details to help the audience along with the story. The airport and hospital will be mostly made from white colored materials, allowing lighting design to paint the interiors with lights depending of the mood of the scene. We plan on creating a single airport model that will be able to accommodate multiple scenes with significant changes made mainly to lighting.
Premise
A lot can be said about a relationship in the way people greet each other, especially when they have not seen each other for some time.
In this short film, the audience will watch a woman's relationship with her grandson unfold from the way they greet each other. From anxiety to ease and from estrangement to endearment, they will find life is too short to be bothered by small differences as the years go by.
